It’s not cheap but we’ll worth the price and multi use type of rod. When euro nymphing its great with my lightweight reel which allows me to fish all day and when lake fishing the extra length/whip allows me to get an extra yard more on my cast than my fellow fisherman.Great more economical rod for its stated purpose...Euro Style Nymphing. The 2 wt class was spot on for pitching light, tungsten weighted flys. Super sensitive tip-top protected light tippets but still plenty of backbone to handle 16”-18” trout with ease. I own another very high end “ESN” rod; I used this one exclusively on my last trip. Get one of these rods if ESN is on your to do list!Really enjoying this rod for euro nymphing. Great action and very good feel, have landed good sized trout and makes even smallish ones fun to play. I use it with the completion kit add on to give it some extra length for bigger streams. This sub-$300 rod has ending up costing about $1000 so far. I’ve just ordered my 8th and 9th (no joke) replacement tip sections. I now order them in pairs because they break so often, I don’t wanna be left hanging while on a trip. Granted, I do fish, on average, 3-4 days/week. I have other euro rods, with comparatively more sensitive and “brittle” tip sections, and I’ve never broken any of them. My rods always stay in the sock as tube until I get to the water, and are immediately returned as soon as I’m done fishing. Strangely, my shadow ii tip sections have never broken right at the tip. Every time, it has been near the guide closest to the ferrule end of the tip section. On two separate occasions, echo has sent me a replacement tip that doesn’t fit my #3 rod, and had to be returned, even though they verified that they were indeed the right size. Makes me wonder if their sure-fit ferrule system is flawed. All-in-all, the rod still gets a two-star review from me, since it is one hell of a rod when it’s not broken. Just wish they could figure out the tip issue, or at least not charge $40-$50 for the replacement tips. There are entire online forums formed around the issue.I have the 10' 3wt. It is amazing. Very light for what it is. I don't think there is a better value for getting into European nymphing. For those of you complaining about the rod breaking. All long euro rods have a very sensitive tips, and given the light line weights you do need to be careful with it. I have not had any durability issues with my rod and if I do echo has a great lifetime warranty!
