The PET4000EC fills the need.While it's a bit pricy but it's worth it to have a device around that provides an unquestionably accurate, thorough test.It features a clear plastic cover for viewing the spark. A magneto in good condition will produce a sharp, straight, solid blue spark 6 mm long. The micrometer can be dialed in or out to check the overall health of the magneto when troubleshooting. A bad magneto can be determined quickly after connecting the tester and spinning the engine over. You will get much more info out of this tester than with a neon bulb style tester. The neon tester will light up with a spark of any condition or output.Saved me from buying a ignition coil for my chainsawThis spark tester is enclosed,,, which makes it safer to use than placing a sparkplug against the cylinder head. I've seen 2 technicians catch motorcycles on fire by using the sparkplug to check ignition spark. This tool makes it safer to use around engines, and you'll have less likelihood of shocking yourself when you use it.Has saved me time and effort multiple times in ruling out spark as the issue.I use this to check small engines for ignition problems. This is a replacement for a unit that has been in service for about 5 year's.Have not used it yet but it looks bad ass in my tool box.Works great.
