It's been very cold of late so I've had a chance to wear this coat and really put it through its paces.Pros:This coat/jacket just smacks of quality once you start to really examine it. You can see where the money went.1. Although it doesn't look it, this coat is heavier in weight than any other bulkier winter jacket I own. It's remarkably warm. Not sure I'd wear this in a full blizzard or rain storm as the jacket is not body length, but on dry icy days/nights, I'd wear this coat even if I wasn't conceal carrying.2. Nice functional styling that looks good without attracting too much attention. Completely blends in with other seasonal clothing. Leaves no impression that this is anything other than just another nice coat.3. Lots of handy pockets in various areas for utility knives, flash lights, extra mags, cell phones, etc.. Some of these pockets also come with internal loops for added retention capabilities. What's really good about it is that the material used in the interior of the pockets are not flimsy linen like other jackets, but very tough denim. I would expect these pockets to last much longer if you use them for storage of hard or sharp items.3. The side/rear skirt of the jacket has a small slit with a button down. I thought this was a very nice touch. Didn't even notice it until I had to reach around to grab my wallet. Instead of having to lift the coat skirt over my back pocket like I normally have to do, I just pop open the button and I can pull my wallet out without having to lift the skirt (and potentially exposing a holster).4. The hood is also just as heavy as the rest of the coat and doesn't easily blow off your head under mild wind. Very warm as well. It would have been nice if the hood was detachable, but it's not a big deal for me.5. Front pockets do what they are advertised to do. Easy and quick access to my firearm. I normally right-hand, appendix carry anyway so this is perfect for me. Side pockets are roomy enough for storage of keys and gloves if desired.Negatives:There are very few negatives, but I as much as I love this coat, I just can't give it a full 5 stars as there are some things I wish could have been better.1. The buttons used in the front flaps for securing the corners and also the back skirts are small. It doesn't take a lot of force or effort to detach them. I understand it's a balance you have to make, especially for the front flaps where you need to quickly flip open, but it would have been nice if these buttons were a little bit more secure. The flaps are held in place primarily with velcro, which is necessary I suppose, but I've found that velcro doesn't last as long under heavy, repeated use. I can see the velcro wearing out if you practice weapons draw often (which you should if you conceal carry). A more secure button system to "back up" the velcro would have been nice. I guess time will tell on this one.2. The cuffs are adjustable with velcro as well. I've never liked velcro cuffs and as I find I have to adjust them all the time. Might be a good idea to have the scrap sewn in place once you've made the adjustment for your particular wrists.3. Using the Adder system was a little confusing. I had difficulty finding a good retention system to keep the gun from jostling around in the pocket. Wasn't sure what I had to do to secure a weapon onto it. I see a lot of folks attach kydex holsters using velcro, but once again, I'm not a big fan of velcro. I finally settled on a cheap Blackhawk ARC for both my Ruger SR9c and M&P Shield. Normally, these are NOT my favorite IWB holsters, but they are very inexpensive, have cloth friendly surfaces, less bulky than some of the molle options, and are easy to modify. Basically, just what I was looking for and not a very big investment should I find a better method to secure the gun in the pocket. I simply reduced the width of the plastic belt clip using sand paper until it was narrow enough to insert into one of the pocket loops. Although I'll probably see if I can find a better clip at a later point, the holster is securely held in place now (see pic).Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and think it was well worth the money I spent, which is not often these days.
