The fifth generation of Echo Dot has gone beyond my expectations. I had the 4th Gen, and the Third Gen as well. Flex too.The 5th generation seems to fix a lot of its problems not only with its speakers but also with its ability to listen. When I had the 4th generation I had a lot of issues getting it to hear me. Sometimes it was an issue when it was completely quiet. It was one of my main reasons for getting rid of it.5th gen brings inside temperature to the table, which was something that I thought was pretty nice as an extra. And I've been able to use it to automatically turn on my air conditioning when it reaches a certain temperature at a certain time.The battery is a nice touch as well. I got It hooked up to power strip. So I can basically flip the switch and shut off my computer, And it will continue to run on the battery.The battery actually allows for a lot more time than advertised if it's idle. I mean I go to bed and that's 8 hours of sleep and I can still use it in the morning without having to turn on the power strip. But if you're playing music you only get maybe about 2 hours worth of music continuously.Gen 5 has had a whole bunch of improvements, and the battery pack is nothing to sneeze at. It's a nice option. Everything went beyond my expectations.
