These seem to be the only non-wiring solution to automating existing US wall switches, so I was initially skeptical to how these would work. But I'm glad to say it works as advertised! Using the 3R Matter hub, the switches are just as responsive as all my other Zigbee devices, and has never dropped a connection in HomeKit. The battery life seems to be decent (3 months in), and it hasn't had any issues with the motor.It is "loud" in the sense that it is a little jarring to noticeably hear the motor the first few times you use the switch. In retrospect, it's not that loud at all. But you get used to it very easily, to the point where we have this in a bedroom and it doesn't wake us up at all - it just becomes a routine noiseI have noticed whilst trying to relocate the Matter hub that, just like most Zigbee networks, signal strength is dependent on how many devices are around to form the mesh signal. If you are having connectivity issues, you should consider using other Zigbee devices eg. smart plugs to widen the mesh network; that has resolved any issues I've had easily.
