I have used these to replace my old volume controls that are connected to my whole house speakers in each room . As the outputs for these volume controls all went back to a basket closet that used to ah e a multi room amplifier in it , I was able to use those feeds to run the power to the amp and then the speaker wires at the volume control to power the speakers. This has made a clean replacement and allows me to have Alexa available in every room using my in wall speakers! This unit does only work with the old echo input (which can still be had on eBay for $30-40. They do also make a version that works with newer generation dots , but are much more expensive !
