It took me about 2.5 hours to replace the bad short block in my SRM-266 but the new unit has worked great for about 20 hours now. The repair place said to replace the whole unit because of the cost to have them replace the short block. If you're mechanically inclined doing it yourself costs less than half of buying a new weed whacker.
