I tried coconut oil, grapseed oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, Pureology detangler. I even tried wd-40. I spent about 3 hrs using different products but nothing budged it.I called four stylists. The first spent 10 mins on my hair and gave up. The second spent 30 mins and gave up. The third told me to send pics and she never got back to me. The fourth spent 2 hrs but didn't get far.I was about to cut it all off, cry, and wait 4 years for my beautiful hair to grow back.In a last ditch effort, I searched for yet another dematting product. Saw this stuff. $55/bottle. Wow. Ok. I read the reviews on Amazon and saw the pics. Huh. I took a deep breath and bought 2 bottles and an aluminum cap.Did it work like magic? No. I put the product in as directed and tried to deknot it. But i couldn't hold my arms up long enough and i couldn't see well enough, so I had to get help.I approached a stylist at church. She expressed compassion and had me visit her salon twice. The first time for 4 hours. The second time for 3 hours. I feel like a woman again.Tips:*I took Tylenol an hr before each session to mitigate pain. My scalp was red and raw.*Apply to dry hair only.*Massage a lot of product thoroughly into hair. Use a pick to poke the product into the mats. Really get it in there. This will take 15-20 mins.*Put aluminum cap on. (When you're done, you can use it to ward off alien transmissions). Let it soak at least 15 more mins.*Sit under a heat lamp/ hair salon dryer for another 10 minutes with the cap on. The heat and the humidity it creates makes ALL the difference. Cold product doesn't help severe mats well.*Using a hair pic, start where the mats end. You are working your way toward the scalp, not away from it. Pick pick pick pick pick. This is tedious and frustrating. Hang in there.*Every hour put more product on. Put cap back on. Sit under dryer for 10 minutes.*Repeat this process for however many hours and days it will take.Very important: do not sleep on matted hair without a plastic or polyester cap. You will easily undo any work you worked so hard to accomplish. Any hair that you manage to detangle, braid and keep braided until all hair is dematted.Note: all my natural curl is gone now. Idk if it will come back. I'll update you all in 6 months.Aftercare:1. Wash product out.2. Use an apple cider vinegar mixed with water to really get your hair and scalp clean.3. Apply a hair mask. Wash out.4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 every week.5. Take a multivitamin to help hair grow.
